In search of sponsors

Since the beginning of the year we have been offering sponsorships with the children of the Sonrise Ministries through Peace’s Hope. You can build a special bond with one of the children, become pen pals and become an important part of their lives. In addition, the children are supported with a fixed monthly contribution to pay for food, school fees, care and accommodation. Currently the following children are still looking for a sponsor: Eddie Sonrise Children’s Home 60€ Eli Sonrise Children’s Home 60€ Gerold Sonrise Children’s Home 30€ Godwin Sonrise Children’s Home 30€ Julius Sonrise Children’s Home 45€ Junior Sonrise Children’s Home 60€ Matthew Sonrise Children’s Home 60€ Mugisha Sonrise Children’s Home 30€ Paul Sonrise Children’s Home 30€ Percy Sonrise Children’s Home 60€ Richard Sonrise Children’s Home 30€ Sanyu Sonrise Children’s Home 60€ Shakira Sonrise Children’s Home 60€ Stella Sonrise Children’s Home 30€ Viany Sonrise Children’s Home 60€ Anna MirembeWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Sponsorship

From now on we also offer sponsorships for the Sonrise Baby Home as well as for the children of the Sonrise Children’s Home and the girls of Mirembe Cottage. In the future, donations for the Baby Home can only be made in general. The background is that the costs for new arrivals are often very high. They are mostly malnourished, ill and need very intensive treatment, which is associated with high costs. However, as soon as the babies move to the Children’s Home, the sponsors are no longer available. This is why the Baby Home has problems to cover the running costs. For the Children’s Home and for the Mirembe Cottage a sponsorship for a specific child or girl can still be chosen. For the Baby Home a freely chosen monthly amount can be donated. The costs for an individual sponsorship are 120 Euro per child per month. ThisWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Paul’s experiences

Paul travelled with our team to Uganda on 18 October 2019. He will stay 2 months with our dear friends of the Sonrise Ministries. After the last team left on November 30, 2019, Paul will report when he has experienced something special. So we can follow the development of the children and the progress of our projects over a long period of time. Read about his experiences here:   9 December 2019 The kids had their casting for the Lion King last Friday and presented a few sentences of the characters that they applied for. We have a total of 35 participants. As I am out sick with flu, I will have some time to think about who will be the future king, to invent some new characters and to write the script.   5 December 2019 Today was the first day of vacation for the Kamuli kids. Diary Team-Trip 2019

Here we will again report what our team experienced on our trip from 18 October 2019 to 30 November 2019, which tasks we had in Uganda and how your donations were used. What is new this year is that this time the diary will not only be written by one person, but that every traveler will report from his perspective. We wish you a lot of fun reading.   30 November 2019 (Gabi): I surprise the team with the fact that I receive them at the airport. I am very happy to see the three of them enjoying their past experiences so much. Tired, but with beautiful memories, everyone is now on their way home.   29 November 2019 (Giulia): For our last day in Uganda we saved something very special. After we said goodbye to the Baby home, we drove to Wakikoola. The students of the Mirembe School received theirWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Farming project: Community pig breeding

A new farm project could be started this year on the pig farm of the Children’s Home. The project aims to enable families from the community to set up their own small pig farm. Sonrise lends some piglets, which are raised by the families to generate afterwards new generation, which remains then finally with the families. Further information can be found on our project page of the farm.

The construction work is progressing!

We are happy to report that thanks to some large donations the construction sites for the Nursery Schools in Kamuli and Wakikoola can be continued.  In Kamuli, right next to the Children’s Home farm, the walls of the individual classrooms are now being raised:     In Wakikoola, at the school complex of the Mirembe Cottage, the foundation for the new Nursery School was excavated:

Mzee James

During our last team trip we met James, whom the children from Sonrise Children’s Home lovingly called Mzee James (Grandpa James). We reported about him in our diary when we visited him with the children on Christmas Eve. James was so ill that he lost the fight against death today. We mourn very much for this kind person whom we would have liked to visit again on our next team trip. We are grateful that we could at least prepare his last Christmas as a special one with some presents. Rest in peace Mzee James. We will miss you.

Christmas presents 2018

Finally the Christmas Gift project 2018 has started. If you would also like to give a Christmas present to a child in one of the three Sonrise Ministries houses, a child of the caregivers, the caregivers themselves or the families in Masese this year, then click on the following link and you will be forwarded directly to the project page. There are some new features compared to last year. So we have set up a “big pot” for those who don’t want to decide for a certain child. All further information about the project and the changes can be found under the following link:   Christmas presents

Parcels arrived

All four packages arrived safely in Uganda, which we packed in August and shipped in September. The children and caregivers of the Sonrise Ministries were excited about all the nice things that we could send there thanks to your donations. Unfortunately with a little melancholy, since this was probably the last parcel shipment in this form. The East African Community (EAC) has decided to impose high customs duties on the import of donations in kind in order to protect their domestic markets. We can therefore only take small amounts of commodity items with us in our suitcases when travelling to the destination country. What we are looking for, you will find in our project commodity items. Once again, many thanks to all of you who in the past have always provided us with such beautiful commodity items and financed the shipping of our parcels. Without you this would not have been possible.
