Special project vaccinations stopped

The special vaccination project was stopped. The background is that shortly after the start of the project we were contacted by concerned members and supporters who are very critical of the topic of vaccination. We take the concerns of our members and supporters very seriously and have therefore decided to stop the project again.

Special project: Vaccination campaign

Sonrise has asked us to start a special project to protect their children. The children are regularly infected with infectious diseases and need medical care. Therefore we would like to vaccinate all children against the most common diseases. In total we still need the following vaccinations for all three houses:   36 x mumps/measles/rubella – per vaccination approx. 17 Euro 148 x Hepatitis B – per vaccination approx. 12 Euro (average price, as in some cases the triple vaccination is still required) 141 x typhoid – approx. 13 Euro per vaccination 146 x yellow fever – per vaccination approx. 27 Euro   For this project the amount of donations collected by Peace’s Hope e.V. has reached   0 Euro   Already invested as an association locally: 0 Euro   If you want to contribute to this project please fill in our donation form.

Sponsorship

From now on we also offer sponsorships for the Sonrise Baby Home as well as for the children of the Sonrise Children’s Home and the girls of Mirembe Cottage. In the future, donations for the Baby Home can only be made in general. The background is that the costs for new arrivals are often very high. They are mostly malnourished, ill and need very intensive treatment, which is associated with high costs. However, as soon as the babies move to the Children’s Home, the sponsors are no longer available. This is why the Baby Home has problems to cover the running costs. For the Children’s Home and for the Mirembe Cottage a sponsorship for a specific child or girl can still be chosen. For the Baby Home a freely chosen monthly amount can be donated. The costs for an individual sponsorship are 120 Euro per child per month. ThisWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Paul’s experiences

Paul travelled with our team to Uganda on 18 October 2019. He will stay 2 months with our dear friends of the Sonrise Ministries. After the last team left on November 30, 2019, Paul will report when he has experienced something special. So we can follow the development of the children and the progress of our projects over a long period of time. Read about his experiences here:   9 December 2019 The kids had their casting for the Lion King last Friday and presented a few sentences of the characters that they applied for. We have a total of 35 participants. As I am out sick with flu, I will have some time to think about who will be the future king, to invent some new characters and to write the script.   5 December 2019 Today was the first day of vacation for the Kamuli kids. AfterWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Diary Team-Trip 2019

Here we will again report what our team experienced on our trip from 18 October 2019 to 30 November 2019, which tasks we had in Uganda and how your donations were used. What is new this year is that this time the diary will not only be written by one person, but that every traveler will report from his perspective. We wish you a lot of fun reading.   30 November 2019 (Gabi): I surprise the team with the fact that I receive them at the airport. I am very happy to see the three of them enjoying their past experiences so much. Tired, but with beautiful memories, everyone is now on their way home.   29 November 2019 (Giulia): For our last day in Uganda we saved something very special. After we said goodbye to the Baby home, we drove to Wakikoola. The students of the Mirembe School received theirWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Urgent needs Sonrise Ministries

Often we receive open donations that don’t have a particular purpose so we decided to create a project folder for these kind contributions. We will use these donations depending on the acute needs that we see and where the money is needed most. This can be for one of the construction projects, for medicine, food or also for quick help locally.    For this project the amount of donations collected by Peace’s Hope e.V. has reached   505 Euro   Already invested as an association locally: 30,210.46 Euro   If you want to contribute to this project please fill in our donation form.

Construction Sonrise Baby Home

In December 2021, our babies could finally move into their new home in Wabirongo. The new complex consists of six residential houses and an office/warehouse building. They have a beautiful view to the river Nile. All houses were equipped with solar panels and connected directly to the newly built water well. For the people in the surrounding communities, we had an outside access to the well laid in December 2021. The gratefulness of the people for the clean drinking water is unbelievable. However, the demand is much higher than a single well can currently provide. Therefore, we would like to have a second well built as soon as possible. This is also needed for the next step in this project. The construction of a small clinic for our babies and the surrounding communities. The nearest hospital is a good 40-minute drive away in Jinja. The old house is now usedWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Michael

Update about Michael

In January we started a special project for Michael. Michael comes from the slum area Masese and was severely malnourished. He also had a painful ulcer in his genital area, which urgently had to be surgically removed. In the meantime, thanks to many donations, we have already achieved almost 89 % of our project goal. The operation went without any complications and he is recovering noticeably thanks to the loving care of the caregivers of the Sonrise Babies Home. His parents come to visit him every two days so that the bond to them is maintained. We are so happy to have been able to help this sweet boy and his parents and hope very much that he can return home in three months. James RIP
News

Mzee James

During our last team trip we met James, whom the children from Sonrise Children’s Home lovingly called Mzee James (Grandpa James). We reported about him in our diary when we visited him with the children on Christmas Eve. James was so ill that he lost the fight against death today. We mourn very much for this kind person whom we would have liked to visit again on our next team trip. We are grateful that we could at least prepare his last Christmas as a special one with some presents. Rest in peace Mzee James. We will miss you.
