New Arrival at Sonrise Baby’s Home

Since August 2019 there has been a new addition to the Sonrise Baby’s Home. Flavia moved into the Baby’s Home in mid-August. She is about one and a half years old, severely malnourished and suffers from tuberculosis, which is why she is currently housed separately from the other babies. Now she is being cared for and nursed up so that she can put on weight again. Flavia’s mother is infected with HIV and needs urgent treatment, which is why she cannot take care of Flavia for the time being. We hope that the two can live together again when both are better. At Sonrise Baby’s Home Flavia is in good hands.

Update about Michael

Today we received the news that Michael’s stay at the Babies Home has to be extended until the end of the year. Due to the severe malnutrition he suffered during his first year of life, his immune system is very unstable. The living conditions in Masese are therefore still too dangerous. In agreement with the parents, who are trying very hard to maintain a stable relationship with their son, Michael will remain at the Sonrise Babies Home until the end of the year. There they will work intensively on building up a stable immune system with the help of special food and vitamins. This will double our project goal to a total of 2,800 euros. Update about Michael

In January we started a special project for Michael. Michael comes from the slum area Masese and was severely malnourished. He also had a painful ulcer in his genital area, which urgently had to be surgically removed. In the meantime, thanks to many donations, we have already achieved almost 89 % of our project goal. The operation went without any complications and he is recovering noticeably thanks to the loving care of the caregivers of the Sonrise Babies Home. His parents come to visit him every two days so that the bond to them is maintained. We are so happy to have been able to help this sweet boy and his parents and hope very much that he can return home in three months.
