Paul’s experiences

Paul travelled with our team to Uganda on 18 October 2019. He will stay 2 months with our dear friends of the Sonrise Ministries. After the last team left on November 30, 2019, Paul will report when he has experienced something special. So we can follow the development of the children and the progress of our projects over a long period of time. Read about his experiences here:

The kids had their casting for the Lion King last Friday and presented a few sentences of the characters that they applied for. We have a total of 35 participants. As I am out sick with flu, I will have some time to think about who will be the future king, to invent some new characters and to write the script.

Today was the first day of vacation for the Kamuli kids. After an amazing speech day, they cleaned their school ground before going back to their home to watch the Lion King. Afterwards they wrote thier casting papers and handed them in to me. Tomorrow they will prepare and present their casting texts for the roles that they applied for.

The final team may have left on Friday, but I am still in Kamuli to spend some time with the children and I must say, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🙂 After having finished church class, the kids were confronted with something new: an advent calendar! Leading up to Christmas Eve, they are allowed to open a new “door” in the calendar each day and get to participate in an exciting activity. Today they drew some Christmas pictures which will put everybody in a festive mood. Afterwards they made some baskets and (hopefully) learned their Lion King texts for the audition tomorrow.
