Special project for Michael – Project goal achieved

Many thanks to all donors. We have achieved the project goal to care for and the recovery of Michael. We can’t tell you how happy we are about it 🙂   During our last stay in Uganda we were approached by a mother in Masese – a slum area in Jinja. She gave us her one-year-old baby Michael and asked us for help. Michael is severely malnourished and also has a large painful ulcer in the genital area. The later examination in the hospital has shown that he urgently needs an operation. In order to survive, he must first reach a normal weight. He currently weighs less than 5 kilograms. Michael’s mother herself has too little to eat to produce enough breast milk for the child. In consultation with the mother and father, Michael will be taken care of by our dear Auntie Peace at the Sonrise Babies Home forWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Donors for all children Christmas presents

It is with great pleasure that we can report today that we have found a sponsor for the Christmas present for all children. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. That is so great. And also the big pot has already filled well. With this we can prepare a Merry Christmas for the caregivers of the Sonrise Ministries as well as for the families in Masese. We can hardly wait to report in our diary, how the money was invested and how everyone was happy about it. Please use the following link to join us on our journey:   Team trip 2018   If you like, you can still donate for the big pot. Parcels arrived

All four packages arrived safely in Uganda, which we packed in August and shipped in September. The children and caregivers of the Sonrise Ministries were excited about all the nice things that we could send there thanks to your donations. Unfortunately with a little melancholy, since this was probably the last parcel shipment in this form. The East African Community (EAC) has decided to impose high customs duties on the import of donations in kind in order to protect their domestic markets. We can therefore only take small amounts of commodity items with us in our suitcases when travelling to the destination country. What we are looking for, you will find in our project commodity items. Once again, many thanks to all of you who in the past have always provided us with such beautiful commodity items and financed the shipping of our parcels. Without you this would not have been possible.

Christmas presents Sonrise Ministries 2018

We would like to give the children and caregivers at Sonrise Ministries and the families in Masese – a slum area in Jinja – individual presents to brighten up their Christmas. With 20 Euro for a certain child or a freely selectable amount for the “big pot” we can buy educational toys, clothes, hygiene articles and food locally and thus prepare an unforgettable Christmas for everyone. We have changed the project a little bit. Of course you can continue to choose a child directly. The amount per child is still 20 Euro. However, the “big pot” is new. You may pay any amount into this pot, if you do not want to decide for a specific child. At the end of the project we then divide this amount between the children without direct donors, the caregivers of Sonrise Ministries and the families of Masese. At the end of the pageWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Diary Team-trip 2017/2018

From 13 December 2017 to 10 January 2018 we will be back in Uganda. At this point, we would like to report to you on a daily basis what we have done and how we have used your donations. Have fun reading.   10.01.2018 In the middle of the night we drive to the airport. At 5 a.m. our first flight to Istanbul starts before continuing to DĂŒsseldorf. We hope that our luggage will not end up in Istanbul this time. Since we have a four-hour stopover, we’ll sit down in a cafĂ©. We can hardly believe when suddenly a friend of Bea, Mati and Helder shows up there and he will even travel back with us. In the plane we meet another friend. Coincidences happens 😀 Arrived in DĂŒsseldorf the fear begins, whether the suitcases are there this time. It takes a long time until the first suitcase isWeiterlesen / Continue reading

Construction Sonrise Children’s Home

Until 2017 the Sonrise Children’s Home was situated in a rented building which didn’t provide enough room for the increasing number of children for some time. Thanks to some donations we were able to buy a piece of land in Kamuli which is roughly a two-hours drive away from Jinja. There are several reasons why we bought a piece of land that far away. It was not only the prize, but also the Sonrise Ministries founders’ vision to help people not only within but also outside of their own organisation. The extensive project envisages the construction of several buildings like a number of residential buildings for the children and staff, some school buildings, water wells, sanitary facilities, solar collectors, offices, a cafeteria, a hospital, a library, a guest house, a farm and many more. The project will be realised according to the incoming amount of donations. It will alsoWeiterlesen / Continue reading
